After completing their studies in design and architecture, René van der Leest and Sigrid van Kleef decided to establish Studio Ruim. The creative duo has already completed several successful projects. Studio Ruim supervises every project with enormous dedication, from design to realization and from the lighting plan to the interior. The duo’s most famous project is located on the Herengracht in Amsterdam.
Projects Studio Ruim
Studio Ruim is specialized in renovating old and monumental buildings. The design studio is constantly looking for special places that tell a story and that are a source of inspiration for both the duo and the clients. Every project starts with an introductory meeting, in which possibilities are sought to make living dreams come true.
Modern, elegant, light and spacious are words that characterize the design style of the duo. Studio Ruim always uses natural materials, such as wood, steel, glass and stone, as these materials fit well with the natural ambiance of an old monumental building. A balance is always sought between the new and old characteristics of the building. The lighting plan also receives a lot of attention. Daylight and artificial light together can emphasize the strong properties of the architecture.
