Residence V – Brussels2020-07-22
Situated near Place Georges Brugmann in the Ixelles district of Brussels, the house has been a single-family home and apartments in past lives. Through an extensive renovation in 2013-2014, the house now holds two triplex apartments, one of them being Residence V, a private residence.
The rooms of the house provide ample natural light, celebrating the grandeur and timeless quality of its original interiors, which celebrates beauty through the pure nature of materials within a minimal modern renovation.
The apartment’s original crown mouldings are preserved and painted in a neutral white, these are accentuated through its contrast with light. The custom-made kitchen and dining area, deliberately contrasting with the rest of theapartment, introduces Palisander cabinets as well as a Palisander bench with green fabric upholstery.
Luxurious marbles are used in the private residence within the kitchen’s countertops and backsplash along with the master bathroom walls and floor. Ultra-modern lined furnishing custom millwork, not to mention the Boffi Palisander and Corian wash basin, is placed throughout the apartment, juxtaposing the traditionally classic backdrop.
A minimalist stairwell connects the apartment’s three levels to its white oak floors.
This work is a fine example of timeless classical elegance with a fresh minimal intervention that is celebrated with the simple use of natural light and a simple colour palette.
