Atelier ND Interior
Since the very beginning of Atelier ND, when Nicole started small at her kitchen table, she has worked with Andrea van Well. In addition to general interior design, Andrea specializes in finding unique, unusual objects from around the world.
The sought-after style of Atelier ND can be summed up as: emotionally charged yet balanced, infused with a surprising mix of vibrant, soothing colors to elevate the mood, a complete cocoon in which to relax and unwind in a space unique to its occupants. Nicole says, “I always ask myself, ‘How would you feel in certain environments, what will you do there and with whom?’ How will a place grow and evolve with you as the years go by?” At the same time, the atmosphere must remain artless, rather cozy and intimate. ‘I never want it to feel too perfect. We’re surrounded by so much perfectionism these days; a little healthy chaos is good for the soul. I do like a little quirkiness.’ Therefore, she does not shy away from mixing art movements, emerging and established designers, antiques, vintage, crystals and special finds that she considers “diamonds in the rough.
Nicole is of Dutch and Italian descent and grew up in the southern part of the Netherlands. After gaining experience in the fashion industry, journalism and photography (still a favorite hobby), she decided to follow her heart: interior design, including coming up with custom furniture pieces, fabrics and more. At that time, she had successfully supervised the renovation of private homes and helped friends furnish and remodel their personal residences. Now her work is presented in magazines such as Vogue Living, Architectural Digest, Elle Decoration and Harper’s Bazaar. Nicole says, “Every day I wake up with so many ideas, there is still so much to conquer. For me, this is just the beginning.
