Formani launches Eclipse Collection by David Rockwell

Maastricht-Aiport (Oct. 28, 2021). Formani, a global luxury architectural hardware brand, today announced its first collaboration with architect David Rockwell and his world-renowned firm Rockwell Group. The Eclipse Collection — which will be officially unveiled in November during the ICFF fair in New York — marks Formani’s first collaboration with an American designer. Thanks to its innovative yet refreshingly timeless design, the door handle from this collection has already been awarded a RedDot Design Award 2021 in the “best product design” category.

The new Eclipse collection is the perfect translation of a true Formani collection, focusing on functionality and beauty. The innovative, modern shape of the stainless steel and PVD-coated products, requires exceptional craftsmanship. The iconic silhouette is characterized by a cylindrical shape with a circular flattened notch. Due to the specific manufacturing process, there is a choice of both rectangular and round return options for a distinctive profile. The outstanding finish and intuitive bending point create soft lines that provide a perfect ergonomic grip. The door handle is made in one piece, so the moon-like (“eclipse”) detailing continues seamlessly along the entire length of the arm and across the curve to the beginning of the neck. A way of thinking that turned out well according to the judges of the prominent RedDot Design Awards. About the design of the Eclipse door handle, the jury stated, “Ergonomically sophisticated and unconventional in its design, this door handle series proves to be equally impressive in practice.”

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to push the boundaries and realize innovative products. Our short-term vision (along with our U.S. distributor ‘Bridgeport Worldwide’) is to introduce our products, our brand and our vision to the entire North American market. A partnership with one of the country’s most prominent design studios, Rockwell Group, is a great opportunity to achieve growth and prominence in the U.S. market. But it is also a dream come true,” says Pim Aarts, Owner and Managing Director of Formani. “Rockwell group’s world-wide projects are a joy to behold and have been a personal inspiration to me for many years.”

“We approach our design concept as we would for an interactive stage set piece – transforming something mundane into a special object that marks a transition and transformation in a wide range of interiors,” said David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group. “With a bending point which responds to human touch, Eclipse is both a pleasure to use and to observe.”

The Eclipse door handle is available in four different variations. The difference is in the shape of the handle – round or square – and in the bending point – full-length or to in corner. The door handle is part of the complete Eclipse hardware collection, consisting of door, window and furniture hardware. The entire collection is available in four finishes, namely matte stainless steel, PVD matte black, bronze and PVD matte gold. The collection is designed so that it can be used in a wide variety of settings. From luxury homes and apartments to Hospitality projects and offices.
