A Cosmopolitan Facelift
Wake up to the view of Lake Geneva and in the distance the snow-white peaks of the Alps. A turn key project where a flamboyant, classical style was combined with modern elements.
The owners fell in love with the typical, romantic, Swiss architecture. And the view is fantastic too! From the beginning they decided to retain the essence of the house, but to translate it to their taste. Stock turned out to be the solution. The entrance hall of the house is the first eye-catcher and sets the tone for the rest of the house: on the wall a wallpaper with a pattern that would not look out of place in a historic theater or Italian castle. The lamps are sleek and minimalist. There is a woolen stair runner on the stairs.
Unique details The second eye-catcher is undoubtedly the kitchen, made of wood and painted in a deep blue color; it feels like the kitchen has always been there. The secret lies in the custom work and special details, such as the copper sinks, the marble slab, the round door knobs and a mix of colored cushions in the couch around the dining table. The dining room is called the Shanghai room; a reference to the city where the couple met. The fabrics of the curtains, silk with a red-pink pattern, and the red color on the wall have been selected with China as a source of inspiration. Where below an eclectic mix has been sought, the master has chosen calmness and harmony by choosing colors that give peace: gray and blue. The contrast is sought in the materials: linen, silk and cotton, and that makes the combination anything but boring. There are custom-made cupboards on the landing with no books, but handbags and shoes that have been subtly highlighted. “I think it’s a shame to store this collection behind closed doors. Now I enjoy it every time I walk past it. “
