Bar, Dining, Living
Electrix Design delivered one of its latest projects in Brazil earlier this year: a 7,000 square foot penthouse in São Paulo. The creative spirit behind this project was: Art Deco meets modern Classicism, with a hint of tropical sensuality.
The highlight of the project is centered around the artwork curation, locally handcrafted brass fixtures and modern furniture and lighting pieces from brands such as: Tom Dixon, Vitra and Jonathan Adler.
The studio opted for a mixture of Brazilian materials and local craftsmanship for the finishing touches, as well as international designers for the lighting and furniture picks, such as: Moroso, Tricia Guild, Restoration Hardware, Tuuci, Luxxu and DelightFull, Gaggenau among others. Key pieces from Brazilian furniture brands Ornare, Artefacto and Beach & Country were also incorporated. All elements were carefully selected to provide the feeling of modern Classic and Deco desired for the social and intimate areas of the apartment, producing one of the most unique residences in Brazil.
The owners work in the tech industry therefore requested a fully automated home which could be controlled by voice. Mundane activities like opening and closing curtains, turning TV and projector’s on and off, are included in the command repertoire, but by far the coolest is “Play Mr. Brainwash”, which activates a mini-elevator holding a projector to descend discreetly from the ceiling and plays a fast-forward video loop over a Jimmy Hendrix portrait made of comic book pages and old vinyl records, by French Street artist, Mr. Brainwash.
Additional pieces from the client’s collection were carefully incorporated throughout, including several works by one the client’s preferred “promising” Street Pop artists: Kaï. These were considered from the start of the creative conception of the project, allowing a holistic integration of art within the interior design.
