Bloxx
Owner and designer Twan Swanenberg is full of his profession. With every detail of a design, he pays attention to the how and why. Also at BloxX: the kitchen for which Culimaat joined forces with architect Ir. Bob Manders. The result? An eye-catcher that at the same time blends naturally into the stylish living room of the client. With this, Culimaat won the Dutch Kitchen & Bathroom Design Award 2015.
Natural whole
Essential in the design is that everything is one aesthetic whole. All forms, the lines and the natural materials. The wooden cupboard wall, cleverly integrated into the wall, with sliding doors that hide the equipment from view. The bar with LED lighting behind a leather sliding panel. The falling plinth that makes the kitchen seem to float. And of course the marble that flows into the worktop from underneath the kitchen unit.
No limits
“The assignment was to manufacture a kitchen in which the residents had plenty of room for the entire family,” says Swanenberg. “They wanted a table where eight people could eat with ease. No point of course, but with heavy and fragile material such as marble, that is a challenge. Placing a leg somewhere detracts from the design. That is why we came up with a steel construction that supports the entire design and that you do not see anything of. If an idea initially seems difficult, we sketch and calculate until it succeeds. ”
