Casco detached house with thatched roof in Leusden
About 3 kilometers southeast of Amersfoort is the municipality of Leusden. Partly located on the slopes of the Utrecht Hills and partly in the Gelderland Valley. On the northern edge of Leusden, the Valleipark has been realized exactly between the Valleikanaal and the Liniedijk. In the beautiful Valleipark you are one with nature, it is a special place Leusden. We built a shell detached house with thatched roof there.
Rough Construction
A shell-completed home means that the builder provides only the shell construction. The house is then delivered wind and watertight. The house is ready in the basics and the owner provides his own finishing touches. So was this house in Leusden, where we did take on the E and W installation.
Country style
The house is built in the country style, with pot-bellied woodwork, rodding and a thatched roof. The exterior façade features a dark brick plinth with rolling layer, facade stucco and wooden cladding. Cladding the facade with gable boards that are fastened in a tile-like fashion is called pot decking.
Stone window sills
The wooden window frames have bluestone window sills. A window sill or water hammer is a facade component that prevents rainwater from running directly onto the facade below. Dirt that comes with the water does not run down the facade as a result. At the connection with the bituminous roofing of the flat roof, a color-matched roof trim, an aluminum edge as a shield for the fascia.
