Cubist villa in Leersum

At the foot of the Utrecht Hill Ridge lies the town of Leersum, a village with a wooded character. In this beautiful setting, Plan Hoog Leersum was created. All homes in this district are all-electric according to the new standard. Good for the environment and residents’ energy costs.

The cubist villa realized here by HaBé bouwen in Stijl was designed by Architectenbureau AGB van Dijk. The house, with its clean and modern design and bright colors, accentuates the green landscape.

Special line pattern
The strong vertical and horizontal lines are characteristic of this house. These are further accentuated by the sleek white stucco gable overhangs and long-form gable bricks. The entire facade is done in shaded gray, which makes the whole look less harsh. The façade bricks are jointless masonry, which adds body to the interplay of lines.

Natural light
The house has hardwood frames all around with large windows and sliding doors at the rear. The natural light makes every room in the home surprisingly bright. The front and side have black screens. Integrated screens are ideal for blocking direct sunlight and also reduce the amount of visibility. On the second floor on the street side, black blinds are installed, which provide the bathroom with the necessary privacy in a nice way.

Black living kitchen
The residents’ sleek style was also implemented in the home. Starting in the entrance where the black concrete staircase immediately attracts attention. Double frosted glass doors provide access to the living room and kitchen diner. The matte black kitchen is partially recessed into the wall and has a sleekly designed kitchen island. Both the living kitchen and almost all other rooms offer a wonderful view of the beautiful wooded area in which this villa is located.

Energy efficient home
Solar panels were installed on the highest roof. In addition, the home is equipped with an all-electric heat pump. This makes the home gasless, or all-electric.
