The challenge of this project: to transform a front garden with a modest surface into an attractive place where it is good for people, fauna and flora. The design takes into account the architecture of the house and the view from the living room. And that without skimping on the privacy of the residents. The symmetry of the windows has been extended to the garden for a seamless transition.

Weathered materials in balance with greenery

For an optical widening effect, the demarcation was kept fairly unobtrusive. On one side we see cloud-shaped and evergreen boxwood, on the other a shared border with the neighbors. In this way, the gardens seem to merge without a striking separation. Columnar shapes of beech guarantee privacy and balance the space with their mass. No lack of character, thanks to weathered materials such as handmade concrete tiles, Scoria bricks (old baked bricks with a blue-gray color) and yellowish IJssel bricks. Steps absorb the difference in height and break through the plain.

Lively scene

There is plenty of diversity in terms of planting: from ornamental grasses and perennials to flowering plants that provide a colorful spectacle early in spring. In the large garden vase of Atelier Vierkant, a decorative multi-stemmed tree shows off, while a larger variant ensures privacy. The varied greenery also attracts birds and butterflies, bees and bumblebees, you name it. The mirror pond and watercourse even attract frogs and other aquatic animals. Much attention was also paid to lighting. In this way, this beautiful front garden is also in the spotlight at night, and the residents enjoy it even more and longer.
