History and the present come together in the special setting of hotel The Dylan in the center of Amsterdam. When designing sixteen new rooms, the building itself served as inspiration for Remy Meijers.

When it designing sixteen rooms for hotel The Dylan, the building served as inspiration. Remy Meijers has translated its rich history and allure into high-quality interiors. Without having worked in a historicizing and romanticizing way. The architectural interventions and large gestures that he has chosen are directly in line with the demands made by travelers on comfort.

The starting point for Meijers is rest. With subdued colors, he has created an intimate basis, in which authenticity, high-quality materials, structures and textures come into their own. Contrasting hues and materials create tension. The result is a balanced, lively decor that is stimulating, but also modest.

The rooms are designated by The Dylan as Serendipity Collection. Serendipity is the ability to discover something that people were not looking for. The word also refers to “serene”, an atmosphere that is reflected in the rooms. The Serendipity Collection also includes two signature suites, named after Jacob van Campen, the seventeenth-century architect of the entrance gate. The six-meter high suites have ornamental ceilings and bronze chandeliers.

It is striking that the entire project was completed in just four months. The design phase took two months, as did the implementation on location.
