In limitation on Apeldoorn soil
In limitation shows the master, or less is more, the art of omission. All those qualifications apply to an Apeldoorn garden in the Berg & Bos neighborhood. It is a generous lot, however, which had grown completely dense and dwarfed the 30’s home centrally located therein.
The house has been extensively but completely renovated and modernized in style. The garden also went through a complete overhaul. The pond in the front yard was filled in, trees and shrubs trimmed back and a lot of “old” plantings removed.
We adapted the garden to today’s requirements. Cables laid for lighting and electrics, pipes for sprinkling buried. Beautiful old trees were incorporated into the new plan that provides for a lot of pavement yet offers a green appearance. Ceramic tiles and steps, gravel, corten steel edging to mark the transition from greenery to pavement; it breathes a great sense of harmony in everything. Embedded as it is in natural elements.
Rhododendrons have been planted and pruned into “rhododendrons. The hedge, tree and flower borders provide beautiful color palettes throughout the year. The plantings allow the house to glory in space while also ensuring a high degree of privacy.
An oasis of tranquility, which can be fully experienced both from the house and from the newly built canopy, combined with barn.
House and garden form a perfect binary unit.
Execution to the design of Donders! & van der Heiden.
