Kapsalon Bosman, Alkmaar
Awardwinning hairartists Salon Bosman is known throughout the far reaches of North Holland for its expertise in hair and makeup. Purchasing the adjacent property created the opportunity to expand and refurbish the entire business.
We were asked to create a cohesive whole in a contemporary experience. Naturally, this was also the time to optimize routing and ergonomic conditions. We have developed this in the concept of BRUTAL APPEARANCE. Salon Bosman’s hair creations show similarities to the Brutalism that had its heyday in the 1950s through the 1970s. It is characterized in the application of a raw material in a sculptural design. In the design, the unpolished and primitive character of the tiled floor and walls is enhanced by the luxurious atmosphere of Palm Springs/California in the 1970s, which inspired the fixed furniture and other styling.
Salon Bosman is divided into a number of areas for cutting, washing and coloring and general functions. Upon entering, there is a striking tiled counter surrounded by tall cabinets from which hairdressing products are sold. This busy area also houses the coffee corner, waiting area and thereby minimizing all traffic in the other areas.
The room divider with plants in the middle of the large room creates an intimate atmosphere. By applying various materials and colors, all functions have been given their own atmosphere. The binding element is formed by the ceramic tiles and decorative breezeblocks, which are also used in the facades and garden. Inside, the salon mostly exudes tranquility in which comfortable chairs and luxurious details contribute to this cosmetic pampering. As a visitor, you experience for a moment the leading role in the world of fashion, styling and architecture.
