Garage turns to restaurant
Loetje’s Garage is a former car garage on the Amstel, consisting of 3 separate buildings attached to each other. In collaboration with Jeroen van Zwetselaar and his team, the old buildings, which incidentally have the status of national monument, have been transformed into an industrial space for (private) diners, meetings and exclusive festive occasions. The building has different rooms, with individual atmospheres, whereby Jeroen wanted to show the old elements instead of hiding them, in order to accentuate the powerful character of the building. The kitchen has been given a central place in the middle of the building and is visibly present through the use of a lot of glass. The building “lives” and everything that happens here can be seen and experienced.
 
Customization and exclusive design
Attention and care has been given to the detailing, paying attention to such as the wall texture, lighting elements and furniture. For example, the conference tables are exclusively designed by Jeroen. These tables are multifunctional and entirely suitable for the rooms, since they are easy to move and put together, but can also be tilted into (loose) standing tables. The blue steel bar in the front section consists of individual elements and is completely mobile, just like the green | white leading benches. The choice of fabric has fallen on this strong luxury material that is pliable, but also easily removable. The chairs around the conference tables, also on the 1st floor, are upholstered in the same fabric, and therefore made especially for this location. This gives a unique twist and ensures uniformity throughout the entire building.
 
Raw and atmospheric
The above bar is another iconic design based on Jeroen van Zwetselaar. This loose object and also lounge sofa serves as an extension of the bar, but also ensures that the large space is broken. The existing line of the original ceiling has been adhered to, thereby connecting to the newly built shed. Aging walls and graffiti murals refer to the time when people were tinkering with cars here. Now it provides an inspiring space in combination with comfortable seats, large sources of lots of atmospheric light and heavy dramatic curtains.
 
The combination of different warm and “cold” materials and the clash of existing elements against the modern industrial gesture, makes Loetje’s Garage an attractive and characteristic building that breathes hospitality and stimulates all the senses.
