Maastricht town house

A few years ago we transformed an old residential house in the Wyck district of Maastricht into a special townhouse around two small patios. The same client approached us again. His eye fell on a business premises that is even closer to the center of the city. A unique opportunity to live within the old city walls, in a spacious home with a “large” city garden. We are asked to realize this dream.

There is a lot involved in the realization of a replacement new building in such a sensitive and difficult location. However, we received a lot of appreciation for our plans during the legal procedure. Together with our client we draw much inspiration from this to make a beautiful city home.

On the monumental underground remains of the old city, the street wall has been “restored”. This by replacing the company building with new construction in keeping with the closed historic buildings. The flat facade is bricked with refined details. The rear façade is plastered in white, fitting in with the image of the annexes and annexes in the surrounding back gardens. The fairly deep backyard faces north. That is why a patio has been created that allows the sun from the south and west to penetrate deep into the home.
