Monumental with a touch of romance
After the character of this stately home was restored in honor, a garden design followed in a unified style: charming class with contemporary nuances. Some existing trees were retained out of respect for their age. As “natural heritage,” they breathe history and tell a story. Generous greenery in strategic locations creates an intimate atmosphere and hides less attractive elements such as the garage from view.
Variety and experience trump
This garden offers its residents plenty of places to relax. From loungers on the grassy area to a terrace under a pergola where climbing roses play their fairy-tale assets. From the house you stroll along a path with herringbone clinkers to the back of the garden. The pond with stepping stones is close to the house to enjoy maximum of the beneficent view.
Balanced contrasts
To temper the formal layout and ensure a beautiful sight in all seasons, I chose a mix of greens in many shades, shapes and textures. In turn, the combination of low and high plantings, including a play area with old fruit trees, creates a dynamic interplay of openness and closedness.
