Naturally sleek

Conflicting desires such as “modern” and “natural” were perfectly harmonized in both the home and the garden.

The desire was for a modern and sleek garden, where at the same time the “natural” with organic forms would prevail. This combination of sleek on the one hand and yet a warm atmosphere at the same time is already reflected in the villa designed by Studio Marco van Veldhuizen. The straight lines make the house modern, but filling it in with warm materials and a unique facade brick creates an atmospheric intimate ambiance. This timeless style with natural colors and materials has continued into the garden. Therefore, a swimming pool was deliberately chosen rather than a swimming pond. The adjacent pool house was built in the exact same style as the home. In terms of planting, maintenance-friendly and evergreen Yew has been chosen, among other things. From the living room, the tight Yew blocks provide a deep line of sight toward the woods, and gradually the rolling shapes of the Yew,- and Laurel clouds take over from these tight blocks. As one enters the gate (again built in style of the home), one is greeted by a “natural artwork” of Yew clouds rising from the gravel. On the other side, evergreen Carex ornamental grasses with Yew bulbs and Alium bulbs overflow into lush Pennisetum ornamental grasses whose panicles in the wind wave the occupants as they leave.
