New construction villa, Gelderse Vallei

A detached new-build villa flaunts itself in the Gelderse Valley. The sleek but warm interior creates a welcoming feeling. Natural light flows through the rooms thanks to the large windows and glass doors.

“In our previous villa, we experienced acoustic discomfort fairly quickly,” says Marco van Ginkel, owner of the spacious home as well as Van Ginkel Afbouw. “The kitchen was quite large. When several people started talking through each other, it became one big sound box.”

When he began this new project, he decided to take a different approach this time. “I had successfully completed projects with OWAplan® before, so I decided to use it in my own home. We have an 80 m2 kitchen – you don’t want to put a suspended ceiling in there from an aesthetic point of view. We were specifically looking for a seamless ceiling solution. That’s why we chose OWAplan®.”

The difference in acoustics between the living room and kitchen was immediately noticeable during the construction process. “Even though the living room is a lot smaller, the sound level was significantly cooler and created an unpleasant reverberation in this empty room compared to an empty room with OWAplan®,” says Marco.

“I am more than satisfied with the final result. When OWA came by to take care of the spray painting, they gave tips on how to incorporate spotlights and speakers into the ceiling. Together we achieved a beautiful end result. OWAplan® makes a valuable contribution to our enjoyment of living. There is nothing more annoying than poor speech intelligibility in your home. A pleasant acoustic climate creates warmth and cosiness in the home. We are happy to experience that now.”
