Not just another day at the office….
Renson brightens penthouse terrace with slatted roof, cladding and sliding panels
Penthouses are the rare places to live in the Netherlands where you can truly see for miles around. This penthouse in a former office building feels the influences of nature: sunlight, clouds, wind, trees in all sorts of hues … and pulls them through to the roof garden and inside the home. The terrace was revitalized thanks to the built-in Aero slatted roof, Linarte cladding with wood and LED inserts and Renson’s Loggiawood sliding panels.
Thoughtful use of space
Inside and out, every square inch in this penthouse has also been well thought out: how to make optimal use of the space for the family with 2 children living there? Inside, this manifests itself in three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a master bedroom with dressing room and dressing table, kitchen and living room… Outside, the penthouse has a spacious roof garden, including a lounge area under an Aero slatted roof with tilting slats.
Outdoor living on roof terrace
Studio Marco van Veldhuizen worked with client and Strakk Interieur: “We adapted the original layout from construction. In doing so, we drew everything out in 3D for our client. Outside, the lounge area is sheltered by the Aero slatted roof when needed, but by opening the roof slats, you can still let in plenty of daylight and sun. The accessories – lighting and heating – make outdoor life on the roof terrace possible practically all year round and very comfortable. The sliding panels also contribute to this, in addition to providing privacy for the penthouse residents. Because of the sleek design and wooden slats, we chose Loggiawood.”
Playful touch with inserts in cladding
That wood is also reflected in the wooden inserts that are interspersed with LED lighting in the vertical cladding behind the lounge chair. The architect explains why: “Linarte was chosen for its luxurious look, in a warm color that is in harmony with the interior. The inserts in the Even profiles make the whole thing less static and give it a playful touch. We were familiar with Renson’s vertical, aluminum cladding system and also deliberately chose products from a renowned company. Companies like Renson are usually a guarantee of a quality result. This total picture is right.”
