Peace, Rhythm, Space
No kitsch, but allure and exclusivity in design, material and detail, creating a cozy atmosphere that feels a little bit “un-Dutch” somewhere. Marco van Veldhuizen’s home has a slight inclination toward Asia, and its inhabitants have a strong connection to this continent. Desire was to create a garden that felt comfortable, radiated tranquility and connected to the home. We did this first through, among other things, the “cloud exercises” that create an intimate atmosphere. Peace and space is brought by unambiguous planting, quiet materials and rhythm in, for example, the multi-stemmed trees. The connection to the home is found in a variety of details. From the pool house that is fully coordinated to the multi-trunked trees that provide a creamy yellow apple that exactly matches the color of the facade brick, coordinating everything together creates tranquility, rhythm and space. And with the right lighting plan, the garden also comes alive in the evening hours.
