Renovation Country House

Renovation of a country house in Heemstede. A beautiful assignment that was carried out with love for authentic elements. The outside of the house has been restored, the inside has been completely redesigned with beautiful high ceilings. The ground floor has two ‘halls’. One at the front where a large glass partition has been installed in the hall to accommodate the wardrobe on the one hand and to provide access to the living room on the other. On the side of the house is a formal front door, where the hallway directly connects the passage to all adjacent rooms. Glass doors have once again been used here to accentuate the views and the connection between the different spaces. Instead of the ‘clumsy’ country house that it used to be, it now has separate rooms with a grand spatial effect. In the second hall, a lion’s head adorns the door of the toilet. An eye catcher with a bent element which was a discovery of the client himself and I could only applaud.

In the large open kitchen, the high ceiling has an acoustic ceiling, so that the atmosphere feels comfortable immediately upon entering. Moooi’s wallpaper immediately catches the eye and gives the room an extra ‘face’. The long wall is fitted with a custom-made walnut cabinet, in which steel display doors have again been used. The wood-burning fireplace is always on, which is part of living in a country house, as is the large modern dining table where everyone gathers. From the kitchen there is a view of the surrounding garden and meadows. The lighting and switching material is consistently implemented in black throughout. The herringbone floor with trim continues in all rooms and also connects these rooms with each other.

On the top floor, the roof trusses have been brought back into view and painted anthracite. This reflects the authentic character of the country house. All in all a comfortable atmosphere in a beautiful setting.
