The challenge of this interior was that there was already an existing kitchen, which was actually only 5 years old and that no breaking or cutting work / structural work could take place. That is an immediate limitation, but it also means that as a designer one has to go to a “next-level” to deliver a design in which the disadvantages of the interior become the advantages. In this way you also get a unique interior. To create a unity between the kitchen and dining room, I, interior designer Ken Creemers, opted for a suspended ceiling with indirect lighting. This runs from above the table to the kitchen island and connects to the freestanding fridge that is built into the wall. A freestanding refrigerator is one of the most difficult items to integrate into the interior in a “logical” way. Thanks to this intervention, the lighting could also be provided in the right place. The lighting was now optimal for the interior and not only functional. Corian was chosen for the kitchen top and the dining room table. A very solid material that is easy to maintain and offers the possibility to finish seamlessly. In the living room only the lighting needed to be addressed and a wall cupboard for storage space. The same principle was applied to the lighting with the lowered ceiling as in the kitchen. The cabinets are all in MDF matt satin lacquered in white or in black and an additional 3rd material in oak wood veneer. The global interior is predominantly white. This results in a fresh and pleasant interior. By drawing the same line everywhere in the choice of materials and finish (suspended ceilings and lighting), you also get unity and peace in the interior. The result is a very pleasant and timeless interior and significantly more storage space than before. A beverage cupboard was even placed so that every day is a party and you can optimally enjoy the new interior.
