Renovation of old mansion

A dilapidated old mansion was thoroughly remodeled and renovated by JUMA architects with due respect for the past. The proximity to the water contributes to the serene atmosphere of the streetscape. This feeling is carried inside thanks to the sophisticated and balanced design that JUMA realized for this special project. Although the property is located in the city, you immediately come to rest. The design was kept pared down and sober, exuding a sense of understated luxury through its detailing and use of fine materials.

The facade was completely restored to its former glory through a process of sandblasting and caulking. The wooden windows were renewed according to the original model and fitted with soundproof glazing. The entrance door is original and was painted in high-gloss black, as were the garage door and dormers. This stands in stark contrast to the light facade.

Entering is pure enjoyment as a focus is given to the back patio overlooking the swimming pond. The patio was provided with a covered terrace with integrated fireplace and sauna. Throughout the year, this cozy outdoor space is heavily used. The interior consists of a lot of custom furniture resulting in a calm image.

The subtle color palette was infused throughout and brings unity. JUMA architects also selected the loose furniture, often choosing rounded, soft shapes to make it inviting and cozy.

The techniques were completely renewed so that the house has all the comforts. A home automation system was provided and heating was eliminated where possible by using convectors or underfloor heating. In places where this was not possible, elegant, cast-iron radiators with brass faucets were installed. These fit perfectly with the old aspect of the mansion.

Finally, the beautiful aged parquet with wide planks gives allure to this project. The details make all the difference.
