Residence Asten
In a green, wooded location in Asten, an existing 1970s house had to make way for a modern villa in a warm architectural language. The specific shape of the prescribed building plan and the client’s residential program led in an obvious way to a design based on the split-level principle.
The plan is simple and clear in design, and has a lot of spatial quality. The building has a rectangular building mass within which sleeping wing with basement located below it, form the back of the plan. Through 2 expressive staircases, one at the front and one at the back of the house, this building section is connected to the living/working area. This living area in which the entrance to the house is also located is characterized by the quality of the atmospheric living spaces with their functional spaciousness, partly due to the local present height of 4.5 meters.
The architecture of the building is characterized by a simple building mass erected in an unusual brick. Where the function demands it, a hollowing out of the building mass is not shunned, allowing the interior space and green surroundings to merge naturally.
