Roof terrace in Amsterdam
Lounging and eating in the green, that is the wish for the owners of this penthouse with roof terrace in Amsterdam on the IJ. The roof terrace also had to feel like a second living room. To realize this, a design has been made in which both wishes form a whole and the roof terrace matches the lifestyle of the clients.
Extension of the living room
The roof terrace feels like an extension of the living room. The connection between inside and outside is largely due to the multiple wood and greenery that is used in the interior returning to the roof terrace. Furthermore, the relationship has been established through the use of color, with black, matte gold, light colors and earthenware predominating in this modern look.
Different seating areas
The roof terrace is triangular, a shape that is then divided into different places. For example, a large dining table has been placed in front of the sliding door. The residents have a view of the entire roof terrace from this angle. A special wall lamp hangs above the table, a real eye catcher. To the right of the table is a raised platform with a new seating area. To the left is a small lounge area with gas fireplace. A true icon on the terrace is a matte golden outdoor shower.
Green oasis
The roof terrace acquires a green character by dressing the balustrade with greenery in raised, custom-made, black planters. The planting has been taken care of in collaboration with Gerda’s Flowers. Greenery is also used for the separation of the various places. The “urban jungle” planting gives a lot of atmosphere to the terrace and the Domani pots give extra power to the luxurious appearance of the roof terrace.
