Roof terrace Penthouse Knokke

The design of this roof terrace in Knokke is divided into two rooms, one room at the level of the living room, lounge and bedrooms. The other space is deepened and has a view of the surrounding farmland and avenue of trees. The client’s wish was to use this surrounding (coastal) environment as a source of inspiration for the garden design. Something that we do all our designs, we call that genius loci.

Rooftop terrace inspired by the coast
For the design of the roof garden, we have chosen natural materials such as natural stone and wood. A wooden sculpture has also been included that connects various elements, including the terraces, wooden wall and stairs. Inspired by the coastal environment and Ibiza, we have created a calm, intimate atmosphere and luxurious appearance with a border of ornamental grasses and perennials of perennials. The border and planting connect both parts with each other.

Wellness on the roof terrace
We add extra power to the luxurious appearance of the roof terrace through wellness elements such as an outdoor shower and a lounge sofa with water element. The water element consists of a water wall. The water is pumped around and runs down the water wall. This creates a relaxing atmosphere in the roof garden. To make the connection between the roof terrace and the house, we used stone strips on the water wall that correspond to the use of materials in the house.
