In a residential tower on the Zuidas in Amsterdam, we connected two apartments by a special staircase. Because the staircase was placed in the middle of the living room, the design had to be of the same design level as the rest of the home.
The steel staircase could not enter the house in its entirety and was brought inside in parts. At the stage construction was in at the time, it was impossible to weld in the work. So everything is bolted together, which gives a nice, rugged look. The outer tree runs in front of a window and is kept low, the inner tree is high for safety and in this way the lines of the stairs come out nicely.
To distribute the pressure of the stairs, a base plate was placed in the cement screed. Later the beautiful cast floor came over this. We then set the stairs on the screed at the location of the base plate. Thus, there are no visible connections to the floor.
