Vacation home Vinkeveen

This detached house is situated on the waterfront of the Vinkeveen Lakes. The house is designed as a modern barn house in which a strong roof form of wooden planks folds around the house. On the waterfront, the façade features an all-glass facade with a view of the vast landscape. On the street side, a closed facade with “punched” facade openings is provided, which provides the desired privacy on this side.

The home is constructed from Finnhouse’s Pole and Beam System. This system uses heavy wooden columns and beams that form the structure. The spaces created between the columns and beams will have large glass facades or closed walls. The exposed wood construction creates subtle detailing with a modern look.

The entire house is clad in burned wood slats. This special Shou Sugi Ban burning technique is inspired by ancient Japanese traditions. One burns each wooden panel in the kiln, giving it a unique coal layer. In this process, the heat of the fire remains visible in the color and texture of the wood.
