Wellness garden Kaatsheuvel
We usually work on total projects, but sometimes also on specific assignments. This time we were asked to design an infinity swimming pool and to fit it into an existing pond. A wish of the client was that the swimming pool would merge with the surroundings in such a way that it seems as if it had always been there. Moreover, the swimming pool had to be a real eye catcher from the house and the adjoining terrace. With an impressive length of 14 meters from the swimming pool, the eye is drawn into the garden and the artwork, already in the possession of the client, reinforces this line of sight.
Preserve the existing garden
Because the swimming pool has to blend into the surroundings, we look at the existing qualities of the surroundings around the existing pond. The garden, designed in 2002 by Jacques van Leuken, is a real green cocoon with height differences and interesting vistas in the tour. Because of the valuable mature trees, this garden can best be described as a forest garden with a serene park atmosphere. The green character therefore had to be preserved as much as possible around the pond, where the trees provide a reflection in the water and the infinity pool thereby receives an extra experience. The black mosaic in the pool reinforces this reflection even more.
The villa and garden are designed in a country style. Our choice of materials is also based here on what is already there, for a seamless connection. We therefore opt for classic materials that connect to the rest of the garden and the villa. This includes granite cobbles, natural stone (Belgian hard stone) and hardwood exterior parquet.
