The composition is strict but not closed: stone volumes, black window frames and a patio with glass doors set the route, and the covered terrace holds the evening light on the outer side of the plan.

A plan shaped by views and orientation

The setting is green on three sides, but the design does not simply open everywhere. Views toward the garden and the water are welcomed in; the asparagus field on the side is screened off. That decision gives the rooms a clear direction. The covered terrace remains open where the evening sun arrives, so the outside space works with the light rather than against it. A low garden wall supports that terrace and makes the edge feel defined without blocking the landscape behind it.

Before the villa took shape, the plot held a former banquet hall. It was demolished, and the new house had to stay within a strict above-ground volume limit. That constraint is visible in the way the overhangs project just far enough to extend shade and cover, without making the building read as bulky. The result is measured: rectangular masses, recessed openings and a geometric overhang that gives the facade its depth.

Arrival through the patio

The front elevation is more open than the side view suggests. The house sits on a dead-end street with limited traffic, so the entrance can afford a large glazed opening. Visitors arrive via the patio, which slips into a partially covered canopy at the front door. That sequence matters. The patio with glass doors does not act as decoration; it sets a pause between street and interior, then turns the entrance into a sheltered threshold instead of a hard stop.

Across the patio, the office occupies the opposite side and looks back to both the courtyard and the street. It is a sensible placement for a room that needs daylight without direct glare. The north-facing orientation keeps that space quieter, while the large glass panel in the hall brings the entrance furniture into view from outside. A vestiaire element stands in the opening like a piece of joinery, not a loose accessory.

Glass, shade and the edge of the terrace

The overhanging canopy at the rear extends the living zone without claiming too much volume. Because the project had to stay inside the permitted cubic limit, the sun shades were handled as a separate exception and project outward by one metre. That practical detail becomes part of the architecture. The line of shade reads as a thin horizontal band, and the terrace underneath gains cover where the house needs it most. From that point, the garden wall frames the view instead of competing with it.

Living spaces opening toward the garden

Inside, the ground floor avoids unnecessary partitions. The living and sitting areas flow into each other, while the kitchen sits more apart. That separation gives the cooking zone its own rhythm without cutting it off from the rest of the house. Every living space looks toward the garden and the reflective water feature, so the plan keeps returning to the same visual axis. The result is not an open plan for its own sake; it is a layout built around sightlines.

Daylight is handled with restraint. Large openings brighten the room, but the walls still hold enough surface to frame furniture and custom joinery. The black window frames sharpen those edges. They also make the glazing read clearly against the pale masonry and the concrete-toned surfaces outside. Near the glass, the eye moves from interior floor to terrace slab, then on to lawn and planting, where the garden is laid out in simple bands.

Walnut veneer, stone and a restrained kitchen

The interior uses warm, natural materials without overloading the rooms. A seamless floor bound with natural stone runs through the house in a warm grey tone, giving the ground floor a continuous base. In the entrance, the wardrobe furniture is finished in walnut veneer. That material returns in the office and in the living room, where a walnut wall panel floats above the open gas fire. The wood softens the long horizontal lines of the plan and adds texture where the room might otherwise feel too hard.

The kitchen changes the language slightly. Natural oak veneer sits next to crisp white Corian, and a sliding panel can hide the appliances when they are not in use. That simple move keeps the room quiet when the cooking zone is idle. A travertine handwash cabinet continues the material search in the bathrooms, where stone surfaces shift toward grey and beige rather than polished contrast. The fittings carry a subtle gold accent, visible in the tapware and the pendant light details.

Upper floor rooms kept close to the light

A staircase leads toward the upper level through a bright landing with a clear view to the spruce woods opposite. The movement upward is drawn by light rather than by ornament. At the top, the circulation space is generous enough to feel like a room in its own right. Two bedrooms share a bathroom, while the master bedroom is treated as an open space. That openness continues into the bath area, where the shower and tub look back toward the garden.

One of the bathroom details that stands out is the round mirror, which breaks the otherwise linear room composition. It sits against the natural stone interior finishes and the warm grey tones of the flooring, so the room feels edited rather than layered. The gold-toned taps and slim lighting elements repeat in several rooms, but never loudly. They appear as small points of reflection against the stone, wood and matte white surfaces.

Materials carried from outside to inside

Exterior and interior materials were aligned rather than treated as separate sets. The house uses a washerstrich stone on the outside, paired with concrete-look render on the rear canopies and stone strips at the front. That mix gives the volumes enough variation to distinguish the parts of the house without turning them into separate buildings. The minimal windows sharpen the openings, and the black frames underline the geometry of the walls and overhangs.

The garden storage building takes another route. It had to be detached from the house, so it was placed among existing tall beech trees and given a quieter presence: a compact house-like volume with a pitched roof, wide black planks and a black zinc roof. The object sits back from the main villa and reads as a small outbuilding in the trees, while the main house remains focused on the patio, the reflecting water feature and the open garden edge.

A house that keeps returning to the same line of sight

What holds the project together is not a single gesture but a repeated exchange between enclosure and view. The patio with glass doors, the covered terrace with awning, the garden wall, the long water basin and the large glazed openings all work around that same idea. Some rooms open wide; others are screened more carefully. The plan keeps choosing where to let light in and where to hold it back, and that gives the villa its quiet precision.

A modern villa with floor-to-ceiling glazing, a patio with glass doors, a covered terrace, and natural stone and walnut interior finishes.
"_yoast_wpseo_estimated-reading-time-minutes":"
2967,3075,2984
post-1005772","hoog_project","type-hoog_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","hoog_category-bathroom-ideas","hoog_category-exterior-design","hoog_category-living-room-ideas
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
