The compact former shed was turned into a fully self-sufficient 40 m² home, but the sense of restriction never really takes over. That is partly the roof, which lifts the room higher than its footprint suggests, and partly the single wood volume that gathers storage, bathroom and sleeping space into one clear block.

A single wood volume organizes the room

The whole plan revolves around one dominant wood volume interior element. It sits like a built-in piece of furniture rather than a wall, and it gives the open-plan tiny house layout a firm center. Inside it are the storage area, the bath zone and the bedroom, so the rest of the house can remain open. What you read first is not a corridor or a series of doors, but a compact sequence of surfaces, openings and thresholds around that timber core.

The open living area stays modest in floor space, yet the room feels larger because the roof rises overhead and the visible ceiling beams tiny house structure keeps pulling the eye upward. Pale grey finishes soften the edges around the timber, while the stone tile floor adds a cooler, harder base underfoot. That contrast is simple, but it does a lot of work: the wooden core stands out, and the rest of the interior stays calm enough to let it do so.

Height, beams and the feeling of a larger room

The sloped roof interior is not treated as a background condition. It shapes how the living area reads, especially in the views where the beams cross the ceiling and the roof planes cut down toward the walls. Those lines give the room a clear direction. Instead of flattening the compact footprint, the roof creates a pocket of height above the seating area and lets the space breathe despite its small surface.

From the sofa, the room opens toward the kitchen and the deeper zones of the house. Sightlines run through the interior without interruption, and that makes the plan easy to read at a glance. A grey sofa, a round coffee table with a black frame and a large curtain-softened window keep the living zone low and grounded. Above it, pendant and ceiling lights draw small points of focus across the room, especially where the roof drops and the structure becomes visible.

Kitchen light, window views and the dining edge

The tiny house kitchen with window is tucked into the same open volume, but it has its own pause in the rhythm of the plan. White cabinets with black handles line the wall, and a worktop sits below the sloping roof. The window beside it brings in daylight and gives the kitchen a clear edge, while the nearby table and chairs turn the area into a place to sit as well as to cook. It is a compact arrangement, but it never looks squeezed.

What keeps the kitchen readable is the restraint of the palette. White fronts, pale walls and the darker hardware stay in the background, leaving the wood volume to carry the strongest visual weight. The result is less about decoration than about spacing: the work surface, the window and the table all occupy their own band of the room, with enough air between them to avoid crowding. The sloped ceiling above reinforces that layered reading.

Sleep and bath spaces folded into the timber core

At the back of the house, the bed nook with niche treatment shows how the timber core is more than storage. The sleeping area sits within the same built-in block, surrounded by wood paneling and small cut-outs that hold light and objects close to the wall. In the images, the bed is paired with upholstered side panels and a neat opening beside it, so the sleeping zone feels enclosed without being sealed off.

The bath area is tucked into the same volume and appears as part of one continuous interior system. A round mirror, a compact basin and the surrounding timber surfaces mark it clearly, but they never break the overall reading of the room. The doors and panels are kept discreet, with dark details that sit flat against the wood. That makes the unit feel integrated rather than added later, which matters in a house where every square meter has to earn its place.

Lighting that works with the roof and niches

Lighting is used as a quiet structuring tool. Ceiling spots mark the passage between the living area, the kitchen and the sleeping niche, while small fixture points brighten the recesses around the bed and bathroom. In a room with a sloped roof and exposed beams, that matters more than ornament. The light picks out the geometry of the ceiling, catches the edges of the wood volume and keeps the darker corners from closing in.

Even in the smallest details, the house relies on clear contrasts instead of visual noise. The pale grey background, the warm timber and the stone floor stay close to a restrained palette, but each surface has a different role. Wood absorbs and frames. Light grey opens up the larger planes. The floor anchors the room. Together they let the tiny house interior with sloped roof and exposed beams feel legible from almost every angle, whether you stand by the kitchen, the sofa or the sleeping niche.

Small footprint, clear sequence

What makes this compact house memorable is the way it turns one room into a sequence of distinct zones without losing continuity. You move from sofa to kitchen to bed and bath through changes in height, material and light rather than through hard partitions. The wood volume interior gives the plan its order, while the open-plan tiny house layout keeps the room flexible enough for everyday use. Nothing here relies on excess; the interest comes from the roof line, the beams and the measured way the interior is arranged around them.

The project began as a shed at the back of a garden and ends as a small house that carries more than one function in almost every corner. Storage disappears into the timber core. The bedroom is folded into the same block. The bath is part of the same logic. What remains visible in the living area is the height of the space, the slope above, and the careful relation between pale surfaces and warm wood.
