An ochre-yellow hall opens the route into a villa interior where pink seating, terracotta tones and darker contrasts are used room by room, not as decoration after the fact but as part of the planning. The house was designed, realised and guided during construction as one project, which explains why the lines, materials and built-in elements feel tied to each other from the first step inside. A modern villa interior with 1930s inspiration forms the base, but the result avoids imitation by keeping the details crisp and the spaces open.

A whole-house plan before the first wall went up

Before construction started, the interior plan was already mapped out in full. That decision shows in the way the kitchen, living room and dining area connect through sightlines, arches and repeated materials. Natural stone and design pieces were selected early and brought in as key parts of the layout, so surfaces and objects work together instead of being added one by one. The house reads as a sequence of rooms, each with its own note, yet the transitions stay controlled by the same palette of stone, brass, wood and carefully placed light.

The 1930s-inspired interior appears in the rounded openings, the curved niches and the measured use of ornament. Rather than copying period details, the design translates them into a cleaner language. A dark-framed fireplace, built-in shelving and generous wall panels give the rooms structure, while the rounded cut-outs soften the heavier surfaces. It is a modern villa interior in which memory and restraint meet through shape, not through references that shout for attention.

Stone, brass and custom joinery in the main living spaces

The kitchen carries some of the clearest material choices. A natural stone kitchen surface anchors the room, while brass accents appear in the fittings and in the details around the joinery. Above the island, slim pendants add a calm vertical line; below, the cabinetry keeps the base visually quiet. The focus is on measured proportions and on the way the material edges meet. Because the metalwork returns in several rooms, the project never feels assembled from unrelated parts.

Custom interior design is visible in the built-in elements rather than only in the larger gestures. The fireplace with marble surround sits as a compact focal point, framed by open niches with shelves on both sides. Nearby, rounded passages and a wall with circular openings create depth without closing the room off. These shapes give the house a distinct rhythm. You move from straight runs of cabinetry to cut-outs and curves, then back to flat walls and large openings, with each change precisely placed.

Detail work that carries the rooms

Several small decisions do a lot of work here. The marble look of the hearth, the soft sheen of brass, the vertical lines in the kitchen wall panels and the dark edge around the fire all hold the rooms together at eye level. Nothing is overly ornamental. Instead, the craftsmanship is in the joins, the recesses and the way the built-ins are set into the architecture. That restraint leaves space for the furniture, the art and the color to do their part.

Color used as structure, not decoration

Color is not confined to cushions or accessories. It organizes the route through the house. The hall begins in yellow, the living room shifts toward blush and rose, and the dining area moves into terracotta. Elsewhere, a bathroom or powder room introduces a stronger red wall against a black-and-white diamond tile floor. The palette keeps changing, but the tones remain earthy enough to sit comfortably beside stone, wood and metal. That makes the colorful interior feel intentional from room to room.

Warm lighting reinforces that effect without flattening the surfaces. Round pendants, soft downlight and a standing lamp leave shadows around the niches and along the wall edges. At dusk, the furniture and built-ins become more legible, because the light catches the marble surround, the brass accents and the curved openings in different ways. It is a house that depends on daylight, but it does not lose its clarity once the lamps take over.

Living rooms with a clear route and enough pause

The living room is arranged for use, not display. A seating group sits close to the fireplace, while the window treatment introduces a darker, louvered pattern beside the softer upholstery. In another view, a broad opening with rounded edges leads the eye deeper into the interior. These moves keep the rooms connected and give each one a distinct edge. The home supports ordinary moments as well: an evening by the fire, a long dinner, children moving in and out of view, a dog crossing the floor.

Arches, niches and round openings

Arched niches recur as a visual thread. They appear in walls, doorways and cut-through panels, turning solid surfaces into passages and displays at the same time. One wall is pierced by multiple circular openings, almost like a screen, while another frames a corridor with a rounded top and a darker timber edge. These elements do more than reference the 1930s-inspired interior. They guide movement, open up views and give the house a layered depth that changes as you walk past.

Outdoor room under cover

Outside, the covered terrace extends the living area with a more robust material palette. Heavy beams overhead, a textured wall and a grill or oven setup in a niche give the space the feel of a sheltered working area rather than a decorative patio. Large light-grey slabs on the floor keep the base quiet, so the eye stays on the structure and the cooking zone. The covered terrace outdoor kitchen supports the same pattern seen inside: practical use, clear lines and carefully placed details.

What matters most is the way the house holds all those elements together without becoming static. The kitchen with its natural stone surface, the fireplace with marble surround, the curved niches and the color changes between rooms each have their own role. Yet the villa never turns into a checklist of features. It feels lived in from the start, with enough room for art, vintage pieces and the daily movement of a family. The design keeps its control, but the spaces remain open to use.

Seen as a whole, the project is less about one striking room than about how one room hands over to the next. A hall in ochre, a living room in soft pink, a dining area in terracotta, a kitchen shaped by brass and stone, and a terrace that continues the story under cover: each part adds a different register. Together they form a modern villa interior with 1930s inspiration that is specific in detail, but easy to live with because its strongest ideas are built into the structure itself.

A custom new-build villa interior with 1930s references, color-rich rooms, natural stone, marble details and brass accents.
"_yoast_wpseo_estimated-reading-time-minutes":"
60,42
post-1073030","hoog_project","type-hoog_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","hoog_category-keuken-inspiratie","hoog_category-woonkamer-inspiratie
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
