In others, white built-ins and glass-fronted elements lighten the wall and keep the composition from becoming heavy.<\/p>\n
This approach gives the interior a clear structure. Built-in bookshelves appear as part of the architecture, not as separate furniture. The same logic returns in the hallway, where glass doors with black frames draw a sharp line between spaces and let one room remain visible from the next. That controlled transparency is one of the quiet strengths of the project: views are filtered, not blocked.<\/p>\n
At the centre of the kitchen sits a kitchen island with a stone-look worktop and two sink zones. The surface is wide enough to read as a working piece, not just a display feature. A brushed metal tap rises from the counter, and the surrounding cabinetry continues the darker, grooved finish seen elsewhere in the house. Above it, a cluster of glass bubble pendant lights hangs low enough to mark the island clearly in the room.<\/p>\n
The island is framed by details that do practical work. Floor-length curtains soften the edge of the windows, while the light from the room falls across the counter and the pendant glass. Nearby, niche lighting strips are set into recessed shelves, giving the walls a thin horizontal glow at night. These small sources prevent the kitchen from depending on one central lamp and allow the space to feel layered, even when the daylight fades.<\/p>\n
Natural stone finishes appear throughout the scheme, often as a calm counterweight to the darker timber. The surfaces are not used to announce themselves. Instead, they ground the kitchen, mark the hearth, and support the transition between open and closed storage. In the fireplace area, a stone surround outlines the opening, while small niches beside it keep the wall from becoming too solid. The result is a room that works through proportion and material rather than decoration.<\/p>\n
That same restraint can be seen in the finishes. The palette stays close to earth, smoke, and off-white, with only the brass accents breaking the surface. They are small, but never incidental. A hinge, a trim, a tap, a frame: each one draws attention to the care of the assembly. The project depends on that precision, because the materials are asked to carry the entire atmosphere of the house.<\/p>\n
Glass doors with black frames appear at key transitions, especially in the circulation zones. Their geometry is crisp, but the glass itself has a softer, structured quality that diffuses what lies beyond. In one passage, the dark frame meets large floor tiles and a curved opening, creating a sequence of straight and rounded edges. That contrast gives the route through the house a measured pace, with each threshold clearly registered.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, a glazed cabinet niche turns storage into a display moment. The glass front sits within a metal frame, while the surrounding wall remains quiet and smooth. It is a small move, but it helps the interior avoid repetition. Closed fronts, open shelves, and transparent panels alternate just enough to keep the cabinetry readable from different positions in the house.<\/p>\n
The brick ceiling detail brings another layer into the renovation. Seen above the rooms, it introduces texture overhead and shifts the emphasis upward for a moment before the eye returns to the furniture and joinery below. The ceiling\u2019s rougher rhythm contrasts with the clean cabinet faces and the smoother plastered walls, so the house feels built from multiple surfaces rather than one repeated finish.<\/p>\n
That contrast is especially visible in the living and dining areas, where a round table sits beneath a large glass pendant and the surrounding furniture remains low and controlled. The table acts as a pause point in the plan. Around it, the cabinetry, light fittings, and window treatments stay aligned with the broader interior language, so the room reads as part of one continuous sequence instead of a detached dining setting.<\/p>\n
Niche lighting is used with restraint, but it changes the rooms after dark. A thin line of light in a recess can make a shelf read as floating; a lit opening can turn a cabinet into an architectural detail. The effect is strongest where the walls are darker, because the illumination traces the outline of the built form instead of washing over it. That makes the joinery look more precise, and it keeps the atmosphere visually calm without flattening the space.<\/p>\n
In the hall and through the living spaces, the lighting works in layers: spots in the ceiling, suspended glass globes, and hidden strips in the millwork. None of them dominates. Together they guide the eye across the interior and let the materials remain legible. This is where the project\u2019s careful sequencing becomes visible. Each surface is lit to show its depth, not to disguise it.<\/p>\n
The renovated farmhouse interior does not rely on nostalgia. Instead, it uses familiar materials in a direct way: wood, stone, glass, plaster, and metal. The effect comes from how they are repeated and where they stop. A cabinet panel continues into a doorway. A frame picks up the colour of the joinery. A stone plane sits against a textured wall. These moves give the house a steady material rhythm that carries from room to room.<\/p>\n
That rhythm is also what makes the project feel edited rather than crowded. There are enough details to keep the eye moving, but not so many that the rooms lose clarity. The house offers open sightlines, screened views, and storage that disappears into the walls when needed. In that sense, the custom cabinetry is not only a practical solution; it is the device that holds the interior together and gives the renovation its recognisable character.<\/p>\n
The project was approached as a full interior sequence, from sketch to decoration. That breadth matters here because the finishing touches were not added on top of the design; they were part of it from the beginning. Brass details, stone surfaces, the proportions of the built-ins, and the placement of the lighting all point in the same direction. Nothing is left to chance, yet the rooms avoid feeling overworked.<\/p>\n
What remains after moving through the house is a clear picture of how the spaces are held together. The custom cabinetry establishes the order, the stone and brick supply texture, and the glass partitions keep the plan open enough to read from one side to the other. It is a renovation built on exact joins and measured surfaces, with every material asked to do more than one job.<\/p>\n
