The existing bar layout was largely kept in place, but the new top changes how the space reads at first glance. Light catches the glass and the metal shelf lines, while the counter keeps the bar grounded. It is a direct, measured intervention, built around surface, light, and a clear hospitality rhythm.

A darker counter, a lighter backdrop

The custom bar counter is the main shift in the room. Its deep tone and veined surface give the work zone a stronger edge, while the shelves behind it remain open and legible. Bottles and glasses sit within a framework of integrated lighting, so the display feels organised rather than busy. The bar interior now works in layers: the front plane, the service zone, and the shelving behind it all speak to one another through material contrast. That contrast is what gives the room its pace.

Above the counter, the illuminated glass shelving does more than store objects. It adds a horizontal line of light that cuts across the wall and softens the darker finish below. The effect is practical, but also precise. Warm reflections sit on the glass, and the shelves become part of the room’s composition instead of a separate fixture. This is where the hotel bar renovation feels most controlled: nothing is overdrawn, yet every visible edge is doing work.

Light, glass and the service wall

The back wall introduces a lighter register. Open shelving, glass panels and integrated light strip the bar of heaviness and keep the eye moving across the room. The service side stays readable, with the counter in front and the storage wall behind, so the layout feels direct when viewed from the seating area. Chairs and small tables appear at the edge of the frame, which helps place the bar within the wider hotel interior renovation rather than isolating it as a single object.

What stands out in the photographs is the way the dark and light surfaces meet. The bar front has depth and weight; the shelving adds brightness and visual lift. That split gives the room its structure. Even the hanging glass rack above the work area reinforces the horizontal geometry. Nothing is decorative for its own sake. The room is shaped by service, display, and light, and those three elements are allowed to remain visible.

A breakfast area renovation built as a new route

The breakfast area renovation takes a different direction. Instead of updating an existing setting, a new room was created by taking over part of an old kitchen and opening a new passage from the restaurant. Two full-height doors mark that transition. When closed, they read as part of the restaurant wall; when opened, they form a green corridor that leads guests toward the buffet. The movement from one room to the next becomes part of the design.

Those doors are covered with a plant wall finish, so the threshold is never just a threshold. It becomes a visible strip of greenery that frames the route. The breakfast buffet design depends on that change of pace. After the darker bar, the corridor shifts to lighter surfaces, greener edges and a more measured sequence of openings. The route itself is part of the atmosphere, with planted walls guiding the view toward the breakfast room.

Green threshold, calm interior

Inside the breakfast zone, the same material treatment runs across the floor, wall cladding and buffet furniture. The uniform finish gives the room a strong visual order, but it does not flatten the space. Instead, it lets the buffet read as one continuous system: fronts, doors, worktop surfaces and wall planes all share the same language. The result is a space that feels enclosed without becoming closed in, with a cave-like quality mentioned in the project description and supported by the low-contrast material palette.

The buffet itself is clean-lined and compact in its logic. Light-colored fronts are divided by narrow joints, and the integrated light above the serving zone keeps the counter legible. In the images, the buffet islands and wall runs are calm in profile, with equipment tucked behind the facing and the focus left on the serving line. This is breakfast buffet design where the architecture is expressed through joins, planes and light rather than through ornament.

One material, two moods

Both rooms use the same surface material, but they do not feel repetitive. The hotel bar renovation leans into a darker tone, with the counter and shelving set off by warm reflections. The breakfast area renovation uses a lighter colour across floors, walls and joinery, which gives the room a flatter, quieter read. Together, they form a clear pair: one room is drawn around shadow and shine, the other around even light and continuous surfaces. The shared material creates continuity, while the colour shift keeps each zone distinct.

That difference is easy to read in the detail shots. The bar has more depth at the work surface, with glass and backlighting adding motion. The breakfast room relies on repetition: panel, joint, panel, light strip, then another panel. It is a restrained sequence, but not a sterile one. The green plant wall corridor interrupts the pale surfaces and gives the transition a sharper edge. As a piece of hotel interior renovation, the project uses these moves to separate functions without forcing them apart.

Designed around the guest journey

What makes the project convincing is the way each intervention changes how a guest moves through the hotel. The bar holds attention in the evening or at the counter, where the illuminated glass shelving and dark finish give the room a clear centre. The breakfast area works through arrival, passage and serving, with the planted doors and light-lined corridor guiding the body through a series of frames. The project never relies on spectacle. It uses surface, route and measured lighting to organise the experience.

The new breakfast room, in particular, shows how a tight palette can still carry variation. A light floor continues into light wall cladding, the buffet fronts stay visually quiet, and the plant wall adds the only strong colour note. In the bar, by contrast, the counter and shelving create a denser field. Together they make the hotel bar renovation and breakfast area renovation read as two parts of one interior update, each with its own pace, both based on the same disciplined use of material and light.

Project information

Project: hotel bar renovation and breakfast area renovation
Completion date: 2025
Applications: bar, flooring, furniture cladding, wall cladding, countertop
Material: Dekton
Colours: Laurent and Polar

Photography: Gerdy Vandermeersch

Contributors: Kamo, Verhelst Natuursteen, Alkon, Céline Grymonprez, Atelier Knockaert, Bossuyt Kitchen, Jelle Deraedt Painting

A hotel bar renovation and breakfast area redesign with a dark custom counter, illuminated shelving, a green plant wall, and calm material transitions.
"_yoast_wpseo_estimated-reading-time-minutes":"
2976
post-1100394","hoog_project","type-hoog_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","hoog_category-hallway-ideas
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
