Inside, the renovation reads as one continuous move from structure to finish: wood, stone-look surfaces, plastered walls, and carefully shaped edges. The home total renovation brings those layers together without forcing them into the same language. A kitchen with wood and stone, a stair detail with a softened cut-out, and a bathroom finished in wood and ceramic each hold their own place while staying connected by the same quiet material palette.

From shell to finished rooms

Every stage of the work was handled as part of one sequence, from the main structure to the interior finishing. The existing family house was renovated and extended with a house extension, turning the plan into something more open and better lit. The new and old parts are not treated as separate scenes. Instead, the rooms flow past each other through broad openings, visible sightlines, and the repeated use of wood, ceramic, and pale surfaces. That approach gives the house a clear order as you move from the entrance to the living areas.

The energy efficient renovation is part of that same story. The house moved from an F label to an A+ label, with an E-peil of -6. Those figures are not visible in the rooms, but they sit behind the calm of the finished interior. A slim ventilation system was integrated into the cabinets, so the technical layer stays out of view. What remains visible is the result: fewer interruptions in the walls, cleaner lines along the joinery, and a house that feels worked through from the inside out.

Daylight, large windows, and a lighter plan

The strongest spatial gesture is the daylight. Large windows open the rear of the house and let the interior read almost like a sequence of frames: kitchen, passage, stair, sitting area, then terrace. Black window profiles sharpen those openings and make the glazed surfaces stand out against the pale walls. Because the views are long and direct, even the smaller transitions feel measured. A doorway, a corner, or a change in flooring becomes part of the route instead of a break in it.

The extension reinforces that movement. Outside, the dark wood volume sits under the roofline with an overhang that gives depth to the rear elevation. Underneath, the terrace is paved with large tiles and lined by planted edges, so the outdoor space holds its own weight next to the interior. The same calm continues indoors through the choice of materials: light wood, ceramic finishes, and stone-like surfaces keep the rooms visually open without making them sparse.

A kitchen with wood and stone

The kitchen is built around light timber fronts and a stone-like worktop that gives the island a grounded edge. The surfaces are not overdesigned; they are drawn as clear planes, with black accents used sparingly in the handles and framing. This kitchen with wood and stone sits beside a broad glazed opening, so the countertop catches the light during the day and the darker details become more visible at night. The effect is practical first, but the material contrast gives the room its rhythm.

Near the kitchen, the wall finish shifts to a soft beige stone look, which makes the joinery and openings read more precisely. In one view, the kitchen wall, the stair, and the floor sit in the same frame, and that is where the renovation becomes most legible. Parket flooring continues the warm base underfoot. It prevents the interior from feeling too polished, and it gives the open plan a steadier texture than tile alone would have done. The result is a room that can handle daily movement without looking hard.

Stair detail and joinery that stay close to the wall

The stair detail is one of the quiet markers of the project. The light timber treads sit against white surfaces, and the opening in the wall is shaped with a rounded cut-out that softens the corner without drawing attention to itself. Nearby joinery follows the same logic. Doors and cabinet fronts are kept flush, with black hardware used only where it helps the line of the piece. That restraint matters here, because the house contains several strong materials already: exposed brick, wood veneer, ceramic, and glass.

One of the most striking interior moves is the return of brickwork in the ceiling zone. It brings a rougher texture back into a house that otherwise leans toward smooth finishes and clean planes. Rather than competing with the newer materials, the brick ceiling detail gives the room a clear point of tension. Wood veneer and ceramic keep the surrounding surfaces controlled, while the brick adds shadow and depth overhead. The house does not flatten those differences; it lets them sit next to each other in a measured way.

Rounded edges instead of hard corners

Across the house, the details are eased rather than sharpened. Corners are rounded, transitions are softened, and built-in elements are shaped so they do not stop abruptly at the wall. That is visible in the stair opening, in the cabinet fronts, and in the way the fittings sit inside the joinery. The effect is subtle but consistent. You notice it in the hand as much as the eye, because the surfaces never feel aggressively cut or overly technical.

This approach also helps the rooms hold together across different uses. Kitchen, passage, and living space do not read as separate environments with a different finish at every threshold. The same material language repeats in adjusted form: wood against stone, pale wall surfaces beside black frames, and matte finishes next to more reflective ones. Those shifts are small, yet they keep the interior from becoming flat. Each room has its own job, but the house stays visually readable from end to end.

A modern bathroom in wood and ceramic

The bathroom continues the same material palette in a more compact setting. Wood appears in the vanity, while stone-like ceramic surfaces define the walls and shower zone. A glass shower enclosure keeps the room open, and the black fittings sharpen the edges of the wet area. In the mirrors and openings, the room reflects both the light and the surfaces around it, so the bathroom feels linked to the rest of the home rather than set apart as a sealed-off zone.

What stands out here is how the fixtures are held in check. The double basin area is tucked into a measured layout, and the circular mirror sits cleanly within the niche. Nothing is oversized. The room works through proportion and surface rather than ornament. That is in line with the whole project: practical spaces that still carry material care in the details, from the cabinet edges to the tile joints and the black shower hardware.

Exterior layers that frame the extension

Outside, the project shows its renewal more directly. White rendered surfaces sit alongside red roof tiles, while the extension introduces a darker wood volume with vertical profiles and a pronounced overhang. The combination gives the rear of the house more depth, especially where the glazing opens toward the terrace. A quieter side of the renovation appears in the texture of the wall finishes and the way the openings are framed, but the main move is clear: the addition gives the house a stronger relation to the garden and to daylight.

Seen from the terrace, the house feels less like a fixed object and more like a series of connected parts. The glazed openings widen the view inward, and the outdoor paving continues the orderly geometry of the interior floors. Green planting softens the edge of the hard surfaces. It is a restrained setting, but not an empty one. The structure, the extension, and the interior finishing all work together to make the house legible as one long renovation rather than a set of isolated updates.

Photography – Studio Vedette

Contributors:
Parket – Nobel Flooring
Cabinet doors – Aro

A full home renovation with extension, bright living spaces, natural materials, and an energy upgrade from F to A+ with E-peil -6.
"_yoast_wpseo_estimated-reading-time-minutes":"
2967,2983,2984
post-1130431","hoog_project","type-hoog_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","hoog_category-bathroom-ideas","hoog_category-kitchen-ideas","hoog_category-living-room-ideas
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
