An open custom staircase<\/a> sets the tone as soon as you step into the entrance hall. The first read is about line and surface: pale wood wraps the stair run and continues along the wall, while dark doors and built-in elements sit back in the composition. The result is a clear sequence of materials, from the floor edge up to the void above.<\/p>\n

Wood runs along the stair wall<\/h2>\n

The staircase is not treated as a separate object. Its side is clad in wood, and that finish carries the eye upward with the treads. In several views the grain remains visible, especially where the light hits the panels at a shallow angle. The stair wall cladding gives the entrance a strong vertical reading, but the geometry stays light because the stair itself is open and visually open underneath. That contrast between closed cladding and open structure is what defines the room.<\/p>\n

From below, the stair flight cuts across the double-height space with a straight, measured rhythm. The handrail follows the line of the steps without drawing attention to itself, and the balustrade keeps the profile clean. Seen from the side, the wood staircase interior connects the entrance to the level above through a single material palette. The same tone appears across the treads, the side panels and the hand contact surfaces, which keeps the eye moving instead of breaking the composition into separate parts.<\/p>\n

Dark doors and built-in storage hold the ground floor edge<\/h2>\n

Against the pale wood, the darker elements read almost like set pieces. Dark interior doors sit close to the stair landing, and built-in dark cabinetry lines part of the entrance zone. These surfaces pull the lower edge of the hall into view and give the stair something to lean against visually. The contrast is sharp, but not loud: dark frames, dark panels and a dark door leaf sit under the white ceiling, so the room stays legible from several angles.<\/p>\n

One of the most effective details is how the black window frames and door surrounds interrupt the lighter surfaces. They frame daylight, but they also sharpen the outlines of the opening itself. In the entrance hall, that black-and-white contrast keeps the stair from merging into the background. It is a simple move, yet it makes the route through the house easy to read: door, landing, stair, opening above. The architecture relies on those edges instead of on decoration.<\/p>\n

Lighting follows the stair without taking over<\/h2>\n

Light is built into the composition rather than added as a separate layer. Small light points appear in or against the stair wall, while spots in the ceiling pick up the landing and the upper void. In a few images, hanging cube-shaped fittings drop into the stair zone and mark the height of the gallery above. Because the staircase remains open, the light can fall across the wood and the adjacent wall in clear bands. That makes the textures more visible, especially the change from matte wall to smoother timber surfaces.<\/p>\n

A route that stays readable from every level<\/h3>\n

The stair does more than connect floors. It also organizes sightlines through the entrance hall and toward the spaces beside it. The open wooden staircase can be read from below, from the side and from above, and each angle reveals a different part of the joinery. The wall finish, the tread depth and the landing edge all line up in a way that keeps the circulation easy to follow. Even with the double height and the open void, the stair remains the central marker in the room.<\/p>\n

That clarity carries into the details. The transition from one material to another is handled with narrow edges and tight junctions rather than decorative trims. The wood sits against painted surfaces and dark joinery with little visual noise. This is where the interior joinery matters most: the stair wall, the door frames and the built-in pieces are cut to the same disciplined language. Nothing here asks for attention on its own; instead, each element reinforces the larger spatial order of the hall.<\/p>\n

Entr\u00e9e details continue to the outside<\/h2>\n

On the exterior, the house reads in brick with a pronounced overhang that shelters the entrance. A dark front door sits below the canopy, and the approach uses broad concrete slabs rather than a busy paving pattern. The exterior does not compete with the interior stair; it prepares it. The same attention to edges shows up in the opening around the door and in the way the fa\u00e7ade meets the sheltered threshold. Black window and door elements return here as well, tying the outside to the interior palette.<\/p>\n

That continuity is easy to notice once you move back inside. The entrance hall does not start at the front door and stop at the stair. It extends through the built-in storage, the dark door leaves and the wood-clad stair wall, then rises into the upper void. The custom staircase holds that sequence together. It is the clearest element in the room, but it works because the surrounding parts are equally specific: glazed openings, dark panels, pale ceiling planes and the light that falls across them.<\/p>\n

Close details give the stair its precision<\/h3>\n

Up close, the difference between the wood surfaces matters. The treads carry a slightly different reading from the vertical cladding, and the handrail trims the edge with a steady line. The balustrade does not overpower the stair volume; it stays narrow enough to leave the profile open. In the close-ups, the wood grain and the junctions between panel and step show how much of the project depends on exact alignment. The entrance hall is generous in height, but its character comes from these controlled details.<\/p>\n

The overall effect is not about spectacle. It comes from the way the custom staircase, the dark interior doors, the built-in dark cabinetry and the lighting all sit in relation to one another. Wood, black frames and white surfaces create a clear hierarchy, and the stair wall cladding gives the room its strongest vertical gesture.
