They run low across the exterior, meet black frames at the openings, and continue into a hall where the same material returns as a stone accent wall in hall beside a floating staircase. The natural stone strip facade is not used as a skin alone; it carries the house’s material logic from the terrace edge to the entrance and back again.

Stone laid in long bands across the exterior

From the first view, the exterior reads horizontally. Long natural stone strips stretch across the wall in a way that softens the mass of the house and follows the wide roof overhangs above the terrace. The stone is varied enough to catch light differently from one strip to the next, so the surface never becomes flat. Warm earth tones move through the wall, but the texture keeps shifting as the sun changes. That is what gives the natural stone strip facade its clarity: the material is repeated, but not frozen.

Black metal details sharpen those bands. Around windows and openings, the darker frames draw a hard line against the lighter stone and the pale paving in front of the house. The contrast is direct. Stone carries the larger planes; black trim cuts them into sections. Seen from the terrace, the house reads as a sequence of materials rather than one continuous shell, with glass set between the stone, the frames and the broader roof line.

Black frames and natural stone at the openings

The strongest edges appear where the stone meets glass. Black frames and natural stone sit side by side, and the difference in rhythm is clear: the stone is banded and irregular, while the frames are thin and exact. That contrast makes the openings stand out without adding extra gesture. The same dark line appears again where columns and railings mark the covered zone, so the facade is held together by repeated details rather than by decoration.

Wood takes over in the upper parts and under the overhang, softening the stone without hiding it. Vertical wood cladding meets the stone bands at the veranda and along parts of the exterior, while glazing cuts through both materials and brings in reflections from the terrace. In one view the house is measured by surfaces: stone below, wood above, glass in between. It is a modern home with stone and wood, but the relationship is not decorative; each material sets a different part of the volume in order.

Covered veranda with stone at the transition zone

The covered veranda gives the facade depth. Large pale slabs extend in front of the glazing and throw more light back toward the stone, which makes the lower bands read even more clearly. Above, the overhang casts a stronger shadow line and turns the transition zone into a place where the materials can be seen one after another. The covered veranda with stone is therefore not a separate addition. It is where the exterior composition slows down and becomes legible in layers.

Hanging beneath that overhang, the structure is kept visible. Black columns mark the support points, and the ceiling under the canopy is lined in wood, which echoes the cladding on the upper part of the house. The terrace does not compete with the facade. It extends it. From the side, the stone strip facade and the wood finish take turns carrying attention, with the glass openings acting as pauses between them. The result is a clear exterior route from enclosed wall to sheltered outdoor space.

Stone, wood and glass across the terrace edge

At the terrace edge, the change in materials is easy to read. Stone meets the pale paving, wood sits beneath the overhang, and glass opens the view from inside to outside. A black railing appears in some views, tracing the edge of the covered zone and adding another thin line to the composition. Nothing is overworked. The house depends on the shift from rough stone to smooth glazing and on the darker frames that keep those surfaces from merging into one another.

This is where the natural stone strip facade shows its best quality. The long bands continue across the lower parts of the exterior and hold the house close to the ground, while the wood and black metal details pull the eye upward and across. The facade is read in strips, openings and shadow lines. That measured repetition is what gives the project its calm pace.

A stone accent wall in hall beside the floating staircase

Inside, the material changes direction. The stone reappears as a vertical plane in the central hall, where the stone accent wall in hall becomes the first strong surface after the threshold. Its rougher texture is seen against a light floor, dark frames and the open space of the stairwell. The wall keeps the same tactile variation as the exterior strips, but the setting is tighter and more enclosed, so every seam becomes visible.

The floating staircase keeps the wall open from several angles. Because the stair has a slim profile, it does not block the view or push the stone into the background. Shadows collect under the treads and along the joints in the wall, which deepens the surface without making it heavy. The hall is spare enough for the stone to do the visual work. A painted wall would flatten this route; here, the stone changes with each step past it.

Light, shadows and the rough surface inside

Daylight enters from the large glazed openings and moves across the stone from the side. In some views a hanging lamp sits near the wall, adding a tighter pool of light and bringing out the uneven surface. The stone reads differently across the day: sharper at the edges, softer where the light spreads more evenly. Because the hall is kept visually open, the texture is easy to follow, from the rough face of the wall to the darker frames around the glass.

That repetition of black frames and stone joints links the hall back to the exterior. The interior does not try to hide the house’s structure. It lets the lines stay visible: frame, wall, floor, stair, opening. The pale floor keeps the hall from becoming dense, while the dark details hold the composition in place. The natural stone strip facade therefore does more than identify the outside of the house; it sets the tone for the route inside as well.

One material logic from terrace to entrance

The project gains its strength from that repeated use of stone in two different ways. Outside, the long strips create a horizontal reading across the facade. Inside, the same material rises in the hall as a vertical feature wall. Between them, black metal details, wood cladding and glass keep the transitions clear. The owner handled the build himself as a contractor, while the stone strip installation was carried out by a specialist, and the precision of the courses shows in the clean edges and controlled alignment.

What stays with the viewer is the sequence: stone, black frame, glass, wood, then stone again inside the hall. The surfaces are distinct, but they speak the same language. That is why the project reads easily from outside and inside alike. The natural stone strip facade gives the house its horizontal order, and the stone accent wall in hall brings that order into the circulation space. Together they make the material route of the house visible, one surface at a time.

modern facade cladding projects and projects with black window frames are often about contrast, but here the contrast is measured. The stone does not overwhelm the rest of the house; it works with the wood, the glazing and the dark frames to define where the exterior opens and where the interior begins. That is what makes the modern home with stone and wood memorable: the same material returns in a new position, and the transition remains readable in every view.

Showcase a modern home with long natural stone strips, black frames, wood accents, and a stone accent wall that continues inside.
"_yoast_wpseo_estimated-reading-time-minutes":"
3079,3064,3070
post-1275451","hoog_project","type-hoog_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","hoog_category-exterieur-inspiratie","hoog_category-hal-inspiratie","hoog_category-terrasoverkapping-inspiratie
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
