From the garden side, the timber skin and the broad glazing work together in a straightforward rhythm. Surfaces stay calm and direct: wood, glass, and concrete. In daylight, the openings frame the surroundings; after dark, the lit windows and the covered entry give the building a different reading, with the timber boards catching a softer wash of light. The effect is measured rather than dramatic, which suits the compact barn-like shape.<\/p>\n
The wood cladding wraps the main body in vertical lines that sharpen the silhouette. It is set against dark frames and pale concrete elements, so the materials do not blend into one another. Instead, each part keeps its own edge. Large windows interrupt the timber face at regular intervals, and the openings feel deep enough to give the fa\u00e7ade a layered appearance. A few roof planes are also visible, including surfaces with solar panels.<\/p>\n
At the front and along the side, the concrete base and the timber volume sit in clear relation to each other. The upper mass reads as the living floor, while the lower part grounds the house without making it feel heavy. On one image, the building stands in a green setting with flowers and paths around it; on another, the dark window frames and lit interior make the timber exterior read as a plain, precise backdrop.<\/p>\n
The rear terrace is one of the clearest gestures in the project. It extends outward as a floating terrace platform, and because it projects beyond the wall below, the house seems to lift off the ground at the back. The overhang draws a clean shadow line. At night, small light sources around the entry and the terrace edge bring out the depth of the timber boards and the underside of the projection.<\/p>\n
This is where the building\u2019s composition becomes easiest to read. The lower storey remains partly exposed, the upper rooms sit above it, and the terrace works as a hinge between interior and landscape. Nothing is overdrawn. The house relies on the outline of the roof, the dark glazing, and the long timber surfaces to carry the image.<\/p>\n
Inside, the route begins with a concrete staircase that runs in a straight, disciplined line. The treads are plain and solid, and the adjacent glazing gives the stair a clear sense of direction. Light enters from the large opening beside it, so the entry feels tied to the rest of the house rather than separated from it. The concrete detail continues the exterior language without repeating it mechanically.<\/p>\n
The open kitchen follows the same logic. Wooden fronts, a light worktop, and wide panes nearby keep the room visually open without relying on decoration. The cabinetry sits low and calm, letting the material changes do the work. Daylight reaches the counters easily, and the kitchen reads as part of the larger living level rather than a closed-off room. It is one of the places where the lifted plan becomes tangible.<\/p>\n
The bathroom shifts the palette without breaking the project\u2019s pace. Stone look walls set a denser background for the freestanding oval tub, while the wood vanity reintroduces a warmer note through grain and line. The shapes stay rounded or rectangular in the right places: a soft tub, a straight cabinet front, and a quiet wall plane behind them. It is a room of few moves, but each one is visible.<\/p>\n
That restraint also keeps attention on the materials themselves. The stone look finish takes light differently from the wood, and the contrast is enough to give the room depth. No excess detailing is needed. The bath, the vanity, and the wall surfaces already provide the structure.<\/p>\n
What changes most between day and night is not the form but the reading of the surfaces. In daylight, the large windows cut open the timber volume and the garden becomes part of the view. In the evening, the house glows from inside, especially around the entry and the recessed areas under the overhang. The timber boards turn darker, and the black frames disappear into the lit openings, leaving the volumes easy to trace.<\/p>\n
Seen as a whole, the Scandinavian barn style house is defined by its lifted body, the partly above-ground basement, and the way the rear terrace appears to float. Timber cladding, concrete steps, and large windows give the project its character without excess.
