Leeuwenburg, rightfully a historic site, an estate and national monument near Driebergen. This buitenplaats was built in 1657 by order of the Utrecht patrician Gerard Zoudenbalch, in 1667 the new owner Melchior Toussain named the house Leeuwenburg. The former service house on the estate was recently rebuilt by HaB\u00e9 Bouwen in Stijl; surprisingly graceful and modest, subordinate to the historic mansion, with an appreciation all its own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spacious villa, designed by EVE Architects, is distinguished by the various wood details in the facade and the high skirted windows. The handsome thatched roof with double chimney stands out stately against the wooded surroundings. The home takes on a look all its own through the tasteful use of various materials and offers plenty of living and entertaining space. With adjacent outbuilding, recognizable as a former barn because of its characteristic appearance. The whole is surrounded by a lovely garden adjacent to the forest edge, which offers plenty of peace and privacy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wooden barn with wolf roof has been preserved in its principle and solidly converted into a beautiful outbuilding. This used Douglas rafters, a solid structure with a luxurious and rustic look. The old Dutch roof tiles have been preserved and reused, a roof tile with its own character and a long history. On the south side, a PV system is mounted recessed between the tiles. Solar panels are ideally suited to contribute to the production of renewable energy. On the garden side and accessible through the porch, among others, is the wellness area with hot tub and sauna. An aluminum facade with French doors provides access to the covered terrace. All in all, a wonderful place to relax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first floor is playfully arranged with several long sightlines, daylight comes in richly through the mostly high windows with wooden frames. The steel pivot and sliding doors provide open views, reinforce these sight lines and give a spatial effect to the interior. The sight lines are valuable sight lines to the outside, to the surrounding landscape, in addition to the view of the various rooms in the house. The second floor with loft is accessed from the spacious entrance hall via a closed wooden staircase with lower quarter.
