JUMA architects was asked by Belgian clients to design an outdoor residence. The undeveloped land is characterized by dense vegetation of pine trees and a slope overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Because it is a privilege to build in this unique context, it is natural for JUMA to preserve as many trees as possible to take advantage of the natural shade they cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next to the driveway, a staircase is designed that immediately descends to the entrance. With this, JUMA wants to anticipate the slope of the site so that the first floor will be level with the street side. On this second floor are located the bedrooms, all of which have large windows. To avoid overheating, these windows are fitted with solar shading consisting of fine, vertical wooden slats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The floor plan unfolds in an L-shape, facing completely toward the side with the most spectacular views. The main volume of the L-shape contains the kitchen while the other volume contains the sitting area. Both spaces thus embrace the terraces and ensure privacy from neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The terraces follow the natural slope of the site, forming playful planes that eventually give out onto the teal infinity pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A horizontal play of lines dominates the architecture, created by several canopies overlapping each other. In some places, the canopies have perforations to create an interesting variation in light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of materials, JUMA chose a combination of white, smooth plaster with a rough natural stone from the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
