Location<\/strong>
On a beautifully situated plot on the Vinkeveen Lakes stood a dilapidated detached house. The existing residence dated back to the 1930s and was originally built as a vacation home. The existing home was structurally in very poor condition and the client wanted a new home. The existing house was demolished and we made a plan to realize for a newly built villa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concept<\/strong>
From the zoning plan, it was possible to place a larger and higher volume on this parcel. In addition, it was possible to further enlarge the house through and addition on the first floor. We curled the extra square footage that could be built additionally on the first floor around the main mass as an L-shaped volume with a porch at the rear. The porch received a large skylight to provide additional sunlight to the living space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plot has an elongated shape and we emphasized this in the design by “stretching out” the ends of the gable roof. Seen from inside, the hood literally points toward the water on two sides. Moreover, this stretched roof gives a nice shadow effect on the flat stucco of the front and rear facade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plinth of the house is in masonry and the upper mass is in flat white stucco with hardwood frames. The roof has dark gray slate tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior<\/strong>
The house has a spectacular entrance, where we designed a loft with a height of more than 6.5 meters. The living area is very generous with large kitchen and living room. A double see-through fireplace with glass on one side acts as a room divider. The second floor consists of the master bedroom with en-suite walk-in closet and bathroom. On the floor above there are two more spacious bedrooms and a bathroom. The rear of the house is made as much as possible in glass to experience the unobstructed view of the Vinkeveen lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
