The first floor of this 1911 building formerly housed a sawmill. The garden behind the building was then largely cultivated to store wood. This makes the house as much as 32 deep and 3.8 meters high. During the transformation from sawmill to home, a number of historic details emerged that have been preserved in the modern interior. This gives the space an industrial feel. The lack of walls and doors creates loft-like space which is enhanced by the long sightlines. The kitchen is located at the front near the noise of the busy street. The intimate porch is accessed through the spacious sliding doors in the living room.
