Glass catches the eye first, then the oak beneath it. In this modern detached villa with glass stairwell, the exterior and interior were shaped together, so the house reads as one continuous arrangement of openings, routes and built-ins. Large panes at the front pull the greenery inward, while the rear side is cut open by a tall stair volume that shifts the strict mass of the building and lets daylight reach deep into the home.<\/p>\n

Modern detached villa with glass stairwell as a spatial starting point<\/h2>\n

The front elevation is defined by wide panoramic windows and a grey cement-based skin interrupted by wood frames. Those openings are not just for view; they set the depth of the rooms behind them and make the relationship with the surrounding landscape visible from inside. Soft green accents soften the grey surface, and the same green appears at the entrance, where a mosaic detail integrates the house number into the wall. The result is spare, but never cold. Material changes do the work.<\/p>\n

At the rear, the composition changes. Here the monolithic fa\u00e7ade with glass stairwell break is interrupted by a large glazed stair tower that projects from the plane and adds depth to the volume. Graphic lines continue across the fa\u00e7ade panels and reappear in the stairwell, so the house keeps its measured rhythm even where the mass opens up. Treated glass is used where needed to reduce sightlines from the city side, while the transparent structure still brings light into the entire dwelling.<\/p>\n

A glass stairwell in the home that links every level<\/h2>\n

The stairwell is visible from multiple corners of the house, and that visibility gives the interior its orientation. It is not tucked away as a service core; it acts as the hinge between outside and inside. Glass and aluminium form the enclosure, with the same soft green tone carried through the frame elements. Beneath it sits a custom oak block that supports the stair volume and works as built-in furniture. From the living room<\/a>, it reads as both structure and cabinet, a solid pause in a light-filled plan.<\/p>\n

That oak base keeps the stairwell grounded. Its surface contrasts with the glass above it and with the smoother wall planes around it. The material also appears in other custom joinery throughout the house, so the stair core is not an isolated gesture. It belongs to a broader interior language of oak, restrained colour and precise detailing. The effect is strongest when you move through the rooms and keep spotting the stairwell through openings, across levels and past the living area.<\/p>\n

Daylight, privacy and the rear elevation<\/h3>\n

The stairwell does more than connect floors. It also acts as the main source of daylight for the house, allowing light to travel through the full interior. Where the rear side faces the city neighbourhood, the treated glass keeps views controlled without closing the structure off. This balance is visible rather than described: clear panels, softened panels and aluminium frames alternate in a way that filters sightlines while leaving the stair tower open to the sky. The house gains light from that vertical slice.<\/p>\n

Oak custom built-ins shape the living spaces<\/h2>\n

Inside, the plan is steered by joinery. Opposite the oak block stands a custom oak kitchen with terrazzo-style countertop, which sets the tone for the main living zone. The cabinet fronts are kept in the same wood, while the softly green worktop adds a cooler note. Wide oak window seats flank the kitchen and turn the deep openings into places to linger. A bookcase is built into the same unit, so storage, display and seating sit in one measured line.<\/p>\n

The living room opens toward the garden through harmonica-style sliding doors to garden. When the doors are open, the floor continues outward and the terrace becomes part of the room rather than a separate destination. The same tiles are used inside and outside, which makes the threshold almost disappear. Instead of a decorative transition, there is a direct shift from interior floor to outdoor paving. The plan reads clearly because the surfaces keep their scale and material through the opening. Wood, green and grey keep the rooms readable<\/h2>\n

Throughout the house, the palette stays disciplined: grey cement-based panels outside, green frame details, oak inside, and glass to carry light. That limited set of materials prevents the large form from feeling hard. It also keeps the interior legible. The stairwell can be seen from the living room, the kitchen, and through circulation spaces, so the eye always finds the same anchor points. The oak elements break up the monolithic shell and introduce tactility where the plan needs it most.<\/p>\n

Material changes also mark the edges of the rooms. The broad window boards near the kitchen make the thick fa\u00e7ade feel inhabitable, not merely structural. They widen the moment at the glass and give a place to look out over the green. Elsewhere, the green mosaic at the entrance and the painted frame details repeat the same colour at a smaller scale. These moves are quiet, but they carry the whole composition. Nothing is added without a spatial role.<\/p>\n

Bedrooms and bathrooms continue the same logic<\/h2>\n

On the upper floors, four bedrooms each have their own bathroom and look either toward the greenery or toward the city side. The rooms are not arranged as isolated suites; they continue the same material language found below, with oak used to soften the harder volume of the house. That repetition is practical, but it also helps the upper levels feel connected to the stair core. Views change, yet the room sequence stays clear through the same set of finishes.<\/p>\n

Stone-look bathrooms with double vanities<\/h3>\n

The bathrooms add a denser surface to the project. Stone or stone-look tiling covers the walls, and double washbasins are set into the layout, with dark taps standing out against the pale surfaces. The image of the bath spaces is quieter than the living areas, but the same attention to edges is there: sharp joints, clean tile fields and built-in basins that keep the floor free. It is a calm extension of the house\u2019s material system, not a separate episode.<\/p>\n

Seen as a whole, the house depends on the relationship between glazing and wood, between a measured exterior mass and a stair volume that opens it up. The modern detached villa with glass stairwell uses that contrast to organise light, movement and privacy without losing clarity. Panoramic windows, green window frames, oak custom built-ins and the stairwell itself keep repeating as reference points, so every room feels tied back to the same architectural decision: let structure, light and joinery work together.<\/p>\n
