‘t Groene Plan

Exclusive garden with hybrid swimming pond in Heist-op-den-berg

With this garden ‘t Groene Plan achieved silver in the prestigious competition The Flemish Gardener in the category large gardens> 1000 m.

The owners of a stately mansion in Heist-op-den-Berg saw it big when they unfolded their plans and ideas for garden contractor Kris Buggenhout for the first time. He made an animation film for them in which they could already view their future garden throughout the seasons. With a fine finish and a lot of craftsmanship, they got their own paradise to cherish.

Because he had to remove various manhole covers at different levels, Kris In the front yard made good use of several floors. Bluestone and low evergreen hedges mark out the different heights, supplemented by some old fruit trees and evergreen spheres. These evergreen plants enter into dialogue with gravel surfaces firmly embedded in honeycomb structures. Along the side, a meter-high masonry retaining wall flanks the spacious blue limestone driveway. Once past the garage, this path turns into a wide cart track that extends to the back of the garden. Kris placed a wide terrace in Belgian bluestone against the rear facade of the house. A hardwood path provides the connection to a swimming pond and pool house. The finish of the hardwood terrace along the water is immaculate. The residents did not opt for a classic swimming pool, but for a hybrid swimming pond. This means that they can choose at any time to purify the water mechanically or naturally. With a simple push of a button, they can disconnect the natural filter zone from the swimming area and heat the swimming water without disturbing the ecological balance of the filter zone. At the back of the pool house is the extensive filter installation that only uses natural products to keep the water pure. The Belgian bluestone that borders both the swimming area and the filter zone gave Kris a playful and decorative overflow gutter. He made the slightly sloping natural backyard even more accessible with a few wide steps in the sloping grass landscape. A few low rhododendron borders complete the connection to the underlying wooded area. Kris provided all plants with drip irrigation and placed strategic ground spots so that atmospheric lighting can also be provided in the evening.
