Family Treasures

The 1920s villa with friendly details such as bay windows, special joints, round facades and large and small windows had to be brought back to life. The first step was the kitchen, everything was pure white and looked rather sterile, and there was also a reverberation. Wallpaper proved to be the solution for both problems; it has a sound-dampening effect and adds a good dose of atmosphere. The new Bulthaup kitchen remained, just like the kitchen island. Only that moved a few meters, leaving room for a larger dining table for all family members and any guests. For example, cooking and eating have now been combined into one space.

Handmade heritage
The existing white, rectangular table gave way to a handmade table made of end-wood. The shape is oval, as a counterpart to all straight lines in this part of the house. The existing curtains were replaced, it could be a little more exciting, richer and younger, with red curtains made of a crunchy linen fabric. The stained glass window in the bathroom was the inspiration for the art deco wallpaper in the hall. Stock encouraged the couple to take back furniture they loved. Grandmother’s chairs were upholstered in a cool fabric. “A chair says so much. It has, as it were, experienced all the highs and lows in a life and has been used to study, relax and enter conversations. That’s why it matters so much to me that we were able to give those chairs a second life. ”
