Living at the Vondelpark

Expansion and redesign
The property
The building from 1912 is quite dark due to the closed side wall and relatively small windows. It is fantastically located on one of the ponds, has a garden and an unobstructed view of the park.

The client’s wish
The house may be completely gutted and refurbished as our new family home. Due to its exclusive location, it is profitable to add as many meters as possible. Take advantage of this.

Concept
A glass extension may be designed on the side wall, which provides an abundance of daylight. 100 m2 basement will be excavated as an extra floor. Leisure spaces are created here. The ground floor will be on the first floor and bedrooms and bathrooms will be on the first floor. By placing high windows on the garden side, you get an unobstructed view and the park is, as it were, within reach. In order not to disturb the character, the stone piers between the windows have been extended and carefully placed back.
