Penthouse Ghent
This new penthouse was purchased on plan from a project developer. The client came to JUMA with the request to redesign the entire interior that was initially drawn. Due to the completely new layout, the facades also changed, so that JUMA also helped shape the architecture.

Instead of two bedrooms, three had to be provided on the same surface without changing the further program or sacrificing spatiality. JUMA went in search of the most logical layout and came up with a design with functional walking lines to make optimum use of the available surface area. Between the sitting area and the kitchen with dining area, a central block was provided in which a gas fireplace was built in on the side of the living room and on the other side the cooking niche was accommodated.

A storage room was created between the two elements close to the kitchen. In addition to the central block, the volume shifts to accommodate a desk. The low furniture in the seating area accommodates the TV and gently guides you to the night hall.

An additional question was to have the lift come out directly in the penthouse itself and not in a communal entrance hall. When the elevator doors open, you are immediately embraced by a homely atmosphere that is partly determined by the warm appearance of the dark parquet in Hungarian point. The double-glazed door between the entrance and living room is fire-resistant to comply with the regulations and also allows natural light to penetrate deep into the core so that entry into a dark room is avoided. The fixed furniture is finished in a light veneer of larch and contrasts nicely with the dark, characteristic floor.
