Woodside Residence

Summary Project Description

The project, a New 6,000 sf Residence and Guesthouse, is sited on 4.5 acres of rural landscape in Woodside, California. Designed in 2013, the construction was completed in November 2017 at an approximate cost of $5,500,000. The house is sited on the pad of an existing residence that was demolished. This was the best location for the new residence to capture views and minimize disturbance to the site. A traditional Spanish Colonial Architecture is contoured to the site and to the lifestyle of the Owners. The approach to the house is oriented to the entry portico that is the focal point of the front facade. Surrounded by 360-degree views, the front elevation of the house masks the primary views that are dramatically revealed upon entry to the house. The house opens to the expansive valley views from the Living Room, Library and Kitchen that all enter to a Loggia over looking the pool. Each room has it’s own architecture, and minimizing the second floor allowed the Living Room and Master Bedroom to have vaulted truss and beam ceilings. Each room is unique and discrete, opening and flowing to each other based on the desired degree of connection and privacy. The roof is reclaimed Terra Cotta and the exterior plaster is hand troweled. Rift cut Oak doors and windows compliment the exterior along with splashes of custom tile designs. The Master Bedroom wing angles back to the primary views, and follows the contour of the site.
