Minimalist villa

We have designed a modern villa at the end of a long driveway on a spacious plot, located on a forest edge. This minimalist house consists of two rectangular volumes, which differ from each other in terms of materialization and programming. The chosen combination and architecture of these two volumes ensures that they reinforce each other.

The bottom volume, which is partly sunk into the ground by means of a split level, is designed as a sleek white block with purposeful façade openings. This volume offers space for the “public” functions of the house, such as the kitchen, living room, garden room, study and lounge area. The latter space forms a subtle connection with the upper part of the house.

The top volume is covered with wood and is placed at right angles to the bottom volume. This creates a number of exciting projections that define outside certain places. This volume contains the “private” functions of the house, such as bedrooms and bathrooms. This rigid block is given a playful accent by applying different façade openings, which are apparently positioned randomly.
