Green oak: the timeless charm of oak.

The durability and strength of oak are proven by many historic buildings across Europe. The charm and grandeur of oak structures that have stood the test of time are unmatched by any other material. Oak grows slowly and is therefore more durable than other local timber species. The age-old traditional English principle of oak framing uses freshly sawn “green” oak in self-supporting structures with many essential joinery methods, including mortise and tenon joints secured with wooden pegs and curved braces. As the young oak dries naturally, these joints become even tighter. This craft requires knowledge and experience. It goes without saying that, after production, assembly must take place quickly due to the drying process. See many of our references, at home and abroad, in our gallery. How do you get started?

Crown Oak guides you through the entire process, from initial idea to final realization. If desired, we can also handle the permit application. Once your bespoke oak outbuilding has been designed and quoted to everyone’s satisfaction, the permit application follows, along with 2D and 3D drawings for approval. As everything is custom-made, adjustments are of course possible during this process. Under normal circumstances, you should allow 20 to 105 days, depending on the spatial planning department and your place of residence. Buildings under 40 m2 may in some cases be exempt, but this is by no means a certainty. We will be happy to provide further information.
